Fractional laser skin resurfacing is an exciting new technology that corrects many dermatological and cosmetic skin conditions with increased comfort and minimal post-treatment pain and care

We use the fractional erbium Sellas 1550 to improve fine lines and wrinkles, rolling acne scars, sun damage and mild skin laxity. The penetrating wavelengths of Fraxel Laser Treatment resurface damaged skin, smooth scars, reduce fine wrinkles and correct pigmented lesions such as age spots and sun spots as the skin gradually becomes softer, smoother and fresher. Generally a series of 3 to 6 treatments is recommended. Treatments are typically 4 to 12 weeks apart.

Is the procedure painful?

The procedure can be uncomfortable, and therefore requires some form of anaesthetic.

We apply a topical anaesthetic cream 30 mins prior to the treatment and this works very well. After the procedure, there will be a mild burning sensation for several hours. This is usually well tolerated.

What is the healing process?

This varies from person to person and the depth & density of the treatment. Generally healing can take one to two working days. Some patients are able to return to work immediately after treatment with some make-up.

Immediately following the procedure you’ll feel as if you have been sunburnt. Mild swelling and redness may be apparent for 2-3 days and then over the next few days you may experience minor flaking of the skin.
